Never wanting to shy away from a fight Volkswagen is already working on a car that can rival the upcoming Mercedes CLA compact four-door coupe.
The car will be the close kin of the Golf and Jetta in terms of platform, but will be a much sportier alternative, with stylish lines and compelling drive. Could this be the reason they are canceling the Eos?

According to Auto Express, the Golf CC will try and rival Mercedes’ CLA with a range of engines that include a 1.4-liter TSI with 120 hp and 2.0-liter TDI 150 hp. Seems strange, considering the 1.4 also makes 140 hp in the BlueGT Polo, not to mention the 180 hp of the supercharged+turbocharged Polo GTI and its brothers. At the same time the TDI could make as much as 200 hp in Audi’s A4.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
