VW Polo GTI Follows Gulf Porsche Cayman on Nurburgring Until Porsche Crashes

We've talked about the drivers we like to call Ring Wolves on multiple occasions. These people know the Nordschleife like the back of their hand and rely on the (usually modded) front-wheel-drive hot hatches to hunt sportscar and supercar drivers who are not that sharp.

We've seen all sorts of examples, with our favorite involving a Megane RS successfully chasing a Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK and a Ferrari 458 Speciale, while some of these examples obviously take place on other tracks (each circuit has its wolves).

However, the Ring Wolf adventure we're bringing you today has a nasty ending, since it involves a... prey that crashes.

To be more precise, we're dealing with a Volkswagen Polo GTI that chases a first-generation Cayman, which also seems to have gone down the aftermarket route.

Once the mid-engined Zuffenhausen machine passes the Polo on a straight, the Vee-Dub driver becomes determined to stay with the Porsche. Truth be told, the Gulf livery on the Cayman made things much easier when it came to tracking.

While the distance between the two German go-fast machines quickly became a considerable one, the Porsche driver, who had disengaged the electronic nannies, lost the rear end on a downhill right-hander before Wehrseifen.

The nose of the Cayman hit the protection element on the side of the track and while we're not sure the rear end was left untouched, the Porsche, fortunately, doesn't seem to be all that damaged - this was the kind of crash that could've easily seen the Porsche driver totaling his Cayman.

You can check out the whole adventure in the piece of footage below, which comes thanks to the Polo GTI's dashcam.

P.S.: Those of you watching the clip and imagining that mastering FWD machines guarantees complete safety on the 'Ring should check out this accident.
