VW Polo BlueMotion Order Books Opened

Consumers who are looking to buy a Polo BlueMotion can now place their orders as Volkswagen recently opened the order books for the car shown for the first time at Geneva. Just like any BlueMotion model, the Polo impresses with its fuel consumption and emissions, with official figures pointing to an impressive 3.3 l/100km (71.2 mpg).

The car is equipped with a three-cylinder TDI engine that develops 75 horsepower and that underwent several BlueMotion modifications to get a better fuel consumption and reduced emissions. For example, fuel economy has been improved 22 percent (or 0.9 liters) as compared to the standard Polo powered by a TDI unit with 75 hp. CO2 emissions are down from 109 to 87 g/km.

Furthermore, in order to further improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions, the German manufacturer worked on the body of the car which now weighs only 1,150 kilos. Other sports modifications have been implemented as well, including a nearly-closed radiator grille and 17-inch Greenland type alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tires.

However, the BlueMotion is still equipped with an impressive lineup of standard features, including a Stop-Start system with regenerative braking energy recovery. Cruise control system, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift grip, tire pressure indicator, front fog lights, sporty styling of front and rear bumpers as well as outside mirror housings and door handles painted in body color are also available as standard.

Pricing in Germany starts at 16,400 euro but will obviously be increased as the consumer adds new options and equipment.
