The automotive world is filled with rumors, but every once in a while they all line up in the same direction and point towards the truth. Like a compass pointing North, all reports about next year's Polo GTI are starting to state the same thing.
Let's recap! First, there was a report from China saying a new Polo GTI would arrive next year with a 1.8-liter engine instead of the current 1.4-liter TSI. After that, Volkswagen themselves said the new supermini GTI is coming in 2015 with more power. Lastly, we stumbled upon a report from Malaysia that stated an exact output – 192 PS – and the fact that the GTI would come with a manual gearbox.

Today, Auto Express released the first real-life video of the 2014 Polo on the web. Editor Luke Madden again talks about more power and manual option, hinting that the UK press office is letting slip the information.

Coincidently, another report from French website we found today states a 1.8-liter TSI engine with 192 PS will be offered. This is the first time all these pieces have come together, giving us a very complete picture of the car.

Another new piece of info we can give VW fans is to show them the first glimpse of the new 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI engine. This is a 90 PS engine designed to be very frugal and fitted to the new Polo BlueMotion.

We have no technical details about this brand new unit, which will most likely go into lots of Volkswagens. Auto Express' video does, however, tell us a few things. It looks like the air filter box is placed on top of the engine, the fuel injectors have complex control systems and the turbo is at the back of the engine, not at the front like on a 1.2 TSI… though we could be wrong about this one.
