Motor Trend today named the US-spec Volkswagen Passat as its 2012 Car of the Year during a press conference at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The award was presented to Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen of America.
“Volkswagen is extremely proud to receive this honor,” said Browning. “This recognition from Motor Trend is a testament to the engineering integrity of the Passat and validates our strategy of providing a US-built, German engineered mid-size sedan at a price in the heart of the mid-size segment.”
At this year’s edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen also chose to debut a facelifted version of the Passat CC, which is now called the Volkswagen CC. They also shoed a concept which previews a future hardcore version of the new VW Bug, to be called the Beetle R.
