There are a bunch of these superpower old Golfs from Boba-Motoring and every time we write about them, they become a little more powerful.
Essentially, these are just dragsters masquerading as street cars. This particular Mk2 has already "killed" a few Bugatti Veyrons and Nissan GT-R and has received a subtle increase in power.
Because there sometimes is a replacement for displacement, the Golf is running a relatively small 2-liter turbo engine. However, this has been heavily modified with a new turbocharger from extreme tuners GTX42, a CNC head porting from NG-Motorsports and boost, lots and lots of turbo boost.
Pumping E85 and 58 psi (4 bar) of boosted air, the 2-liter 16 valve makes 1,150 HP and 1,035 Nm (763 lb-ft) of torque. To get the power down, Boba is using a dog box and 4Matic all-wheel drive, which is what they're testing in this video.
Needless to say, a 1.1 ton Golf with Bugatti power is scary… bordering on terrifying. Once the turbo spools up and the boosts kicks in, the wheels start slipping and the speedometer quickly goes over 250 km/h (155 mph), from which point we're left in the dar as to the actual speed of the German dragster.
We don't have specific output performance numbers for this setup yet, but similar cars from Boba take their first 100 km/h in only 2 seconds and will run the quarter mile in around 8 seconds. If this story has given you an appetite for crazy old hatchback with superpowers, check out Boba's Mitsubishi Colt, which is probably the fastest in the world.
