VW Golf VII Prepares for Making the Entrance

German automaker Volkswagen is currently working on the Golf VII, which is expected to debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2012, before it will hit the streets in October that year. According to the AutoExpress, the new Golf won’t give much in {Ad}terms of design and detail but will indulge its customers with dramatic changes, that have been made especially under the skin. The wheelbase of the car has been lengthened, also the car’s platform has been completely redesigned.

A new platform architecture, dubbed “MQB” was introduced this way the structure will be more versatile than the one used on previous chassis by the Golf VI. Drivers can expect that the launch of the Mk VII to spawn a huge family of Golf based cars over the coming years including the new versions of the Touran, Golf Plus and Scirocco.

Among the new features of the new Golf VII we have to mention that it will have a larger booth than its direct competitors like, Ford Focus and Renault Megane, and promisses more legroom at the rear.

There will be available a wide range of TSI supercharged and turbocharged editions including an amazing 300hp 2.0-litre unit, and not to forget an efficient 1.2-liter 65hp engine. The topping on the cake will be a plug-in hybrid as well as an electric version, called e_Bluemotion. Diesel engines will include a 1.6 and 2.0-liter TDI.

As an entry-level, the cars will be fitted with six speed manual gearbox, while the flagstrip machines are to receive the company’s seven-speed DSG semi automatic gearbox. Orn the most powerful cars in the lineup will be a four wheel drive version.
