Somewhere in the middle east, there are more parking sports than we know what to do with. No wonder they came up with a free-spirited sport like hagwalah! Also, there's this Golf R that supposedly changes color.
Before we discuss any of that, let's just mention that the German hot hatch is a horrible car for hagwalah. It's got giant sticky tires and the AWD sends up to only 50% of the power to the back, so there's no drift mode like in the Focus RS. Also, who buys a compact in a land where gasoline is as cheap as tap water?

Anyway, there's this guy who says he got tired of his Golf R's color. So he flips his key fob over and presses the little VW logo at the top. Presto chango - the car goes from blue to green, red, gray and purple. Boy, why do the people in Abu Dhabi get all the best toys and we don't!

While his friend who's filming the prank is impressed, we're not, as this is a pretty old stunt that's been on the internet for a while. It used to be called "Paramagnetic" paint and you can find plenty of such videos on YouTube.

We can't tell you which software the Golf owner used to trick us, but the most popular is Adobe After Effects. Of course, the technology is not perfect, as it doesn't always sample the entire surface of the car correctly.

A blue car isn't entirely blue; it's got reflections from the sky and ground, as well as the light penetrating the first few layers of clear coat and slightly altering. This can be seen on the parts that are turning away from the camera, such as the spoilers that are curving down.

That's not to say you can't have a car that changes color. There are multiple wrapping and dipping solutions that adjust according to the viewing angle or the ambient temperature.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
