We had just speculated up until now, regarding VW’s creation of a new budget sub-brand, to rival the highly-successful Dacia model, using the same philosophy to achieve the same good results - or so they plan! Dacia has built its reputation in Europe (as well as some other markets around the world) slowly, by convincing the prospective buyers that their cars are actually much more competent than the price tag would suggest.
VW will also rummage around in their old parts bin, using already proven components and technologies to make a car which is both cheap and very reliable - very important qualities in the sector. Now, according to autocar.co.uk, VW has confirmed its intentions to create the aforementioned budget brand by a senior official, claiming to not be surprised at the Romanian brand’s widespread success.

The new brand, the 13th under the VW group umbrella, would feature a range of cars including, but not limited to, a saloon, an estate as well as a practical MPV. It has not been confirmed when they plan on putting the idea into practice, but with a company like VW, Dacia had better watch out.
