With VW, like most other manufacturers planning their large-scale incursion into China, cannot afford any slip-ups. So, to avoid any management-related problems, VW CEO Martin Winterkron has replaced three Audi board members and he has also added a board position for the group’s China venture.
According to autonewschina.com, Jochem Heizmann, currently VW’s chief of commercial vehicles, has been moved to the newly-created management position, with VW’s current China chief of operations, Karl-Thomas Neumann being overlooked, as his future with the company is unclear. This isn’t the only management change undertaken by VW China, as VW’s brand marketing director, Luca De Meo will now lead Audi’s sales efforts, taking over from Peter Schwarzenbauer as of September 1st.

The future needs to be as certain as possible for VW, with a planned investment in China of €14- ($17.4-) billion by 2016, their expansion ambitions need to be matched by the competence of their management in order for the venture to be successful in the long run.
