Volvo V60 Lands in Oz

Having already captured the imagination of the European customers, Volvo's new V60 is now trying a similar feat on the Australian market, where it was launched this week to complement the S60 range.

For the Australian market, the car will be offered in three versions, T5, D5 AWD and T6 AWD. For the more sport-orientated drivers, two RDesign variants are also up for grabs for the T5 and T6 AWD equipped with petrol engines.

Two petrol engines will make up the line of the new V60, starting with the 2.0l four cylinder GTDi (237 hp, 320 Nm of torque) and ending with the 3.0l turbocharged six-cylinder (300 hp, 440 Nm of torque). The diesel lovers will be treated with the 2.4l five-cylinder twin turbo, good for 202 hp and a maximum torque of 420 Nm.

The Rdesign versions will set themselves apart from the regular production units through the enhancements brought to both the exterior and the interior. The chassis has also been lowered by 15 mm to improve driving dynamics. Prices for the V60 in Australia start at AU$54,950.

"The new S60 raised the bar for sporting prestige sedans and now we have done it again for sports wagons with the new V60 offering more space and flexibility without any compromise in the exciting driving dynamics and stylish aesthetic," said Matt Braid, Volvo Australia managing director.

"The designers have created a car with coupe-like styling that still has plenty of load space at the rear. At the same time they have succeeded in marrying that aesthetic to the car's performance with the V60 offering a choice of three powerful and efficient turbocharged engines, a chassis tuned for dynamic handling and a host of safety and comfort-related technical innovations."
