Fresh on the heels of the magnificent S60 Polestar, which has a whopping 508 horsepower T6 engine that seems to run on rocket fuel, we bring you more good news from Sweden. This time, it will be a more mainstream version, a T5-powered Volvo V40 which will launch at the end o this year.
The 254 horsepower car will share some of its underpinnings with the front-drive Focus ST. An all-wheel drive version will follow from the in-house tuning division. This will be even hotter, offering up to 400 horsepower.

If the report from Pistonheads proves correct, the Volvo V40 will be transformed from a sensible family car with luxury fittings to one which can rival the Audi S3 or BMW 1-Series. Further details on the projec should be released at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
