Volvo V40 Polestar: a Hero Is Rendered

The BMW M135i, Mercedes A45 AMG and Audi S3 are locked in deadly battle over a prime piece of European real-estate called Premium Hatchlandia. Like the Swedish company that it is, Volvo has remained largely neutral, not wanting it misuse its limited resources on meaningless war. But if they did decided to make an A45 all their own, this is what it would look like!

A rendering of a Volvo V40 Polestar really got us wondering what that car would and should be like. Obviously, it needs to have 300 horsepower or so and all-wheel drive. This is Volvo after all, but what kind of engine could supply that?

The biggest engine they've got in the V40 is the 2.5-liter with 254 hp and 360 Nm that's been fitted to the T5. It could be tuned a little higher, but we think there's another mill worth considering.

2014 versions of the S60/V60 have just received a new T6. Instead of the usual 3-liter, they use a 2-liter with both turbocharging and supercharging that makes 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

A T6 engine in a compact Volvo has never been done. Bigger weapons in a smaller vehicles: that's the way the Germans do things. Back in World War 2, they stuck the gun from the Panzer V in the Panzer IV to make the JagPanzer IV. Oh and there's also the fact that BMW M135i models have basically the same engine as a 335i.
