Here at autoevolution, we find that most automaker’s teasers are done in bad taste, by crudely cutting or photoshoping images they have ready for the press release. But Volvo has done a splendid job with the V40 which is being presented with the sun rising behind it, and thus blinding us to its lines. But this is also an excellent metaphor for a car that’s likely going to revitalize the brand, bringing it back into focus.
The V40 is going to stand out from the crowd at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which is just just weeks away now. Volvo has even created a dedicated section on its Facebook page, announcing the official Live Launch will take place on March 6th.
There’s not a lot we can tell you with certainty about the V40 other than the fact that it’s a five-door hatchback for the European C-segment. It’s going to have bold styling and muscular proportions, plus a bunch of premium features that will set it apart.
Volvo today admitted for the first time that the new car will be called the V40, a name that’s been killed in 2004 with a lack-luster station wagon.
