Volvo Trucks deliveries have been jumping from month to month this year, with the latest results published for the month of August showing a 59 percent increase compared to the same period of last year. What’s more, increases were reported in all of the major market the company operates in.
In Europe, demand increased by 54 percent to 1,787 vehicles. Traditionally, the delivery activity is somewhat lower in August due to the holiday season in Europe. Yet in Eastern Europe, sales doubled, with the Russian market remained very strong and the number of deliveries in August were up 186% to 272 trucks, compared with August 2010. Year-to-date, deliveries in Russia are up a whole 214% compared with last year.
The high demand also continued in South America and Brazil reached an all-time high in August deliveries. Sales increases were noted for Volvo FH, Volvo FM and Volvo VM. Also, Volvo Trucks leading market position in the heavy segment in Brazil continued during August. In total, deliveries in South America rose by 65 percent to 2,471 trucks, compared with the year earlier period.
In North America, deliveries in August rose by 74 percent to 2,105 vehicles, despite some disruptions due to production component shortages being experienced across the industry.
In South Africa, truck deliveries had a positive development in August and reached 170 trucks in total. Volvo Trucks service-and dealer network in the region has experienced a strong development recently.
