Volvo Trucks Opens New Dealership in Belgium

Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo announced today it has expanded its dealer network in Belgium. Private dealership Garage Kant has opened its fourth site in the country, located in Olen, in the south of the Campine in Belgium. With this new dealership, Volvo has 32 workshops and dealers in Belgium.

The new dealership includes a spare parts service, premises for calibrating tachographs and speed limiters and a rolling test bench for testing 6x4 vehicles.

"It was with the encouragement of Volvo Trucks that we decided to build a new facility. We're very proud of this project; it will enable us to provide optimum coverage for the region," explains Eric Cuyt, Manager of the company's Belgian dealers.

Garage Kant is a Dutch company and owns a total of six dealerships, four in Belgium and two in the Netherlands. The company specialists in road transport using products from Volvo Trucks and Nissan Trucks, in passenger transport using vehicles from Volvo Buses, as well as engines from Volvo Penta.

Volvo Trucks recently debuted a new comprehensive training programme which meets the EU requirements. The training programme consists of five courses that last a whole day: efficient driving, safe driving, health and first aid, load securing and transport security and the haulage sector and legislation.

All Volvo FE and FL trucks now come with Environmental Product Declaration - EPD, which means European owners now have access to a detailed lifecycle analysis of the vehicle’s environmental footprint.

Thanks to the EPD, customers can calculate the total environmental footprint for a given transport assignment and also clearly show what is covered, Volvo says. DHL, for example, one of Volvo’s largest customers, uses the EPD to choose the right measures for reducing their climate footprint.
