This editor has just fallen in love with the way Volvo handles its business. They've just released a teaser for a new concept, and rather then beat around the bush, the Swedes have kept things simple.
The XC Coupe is the second of three concept, underpinned by the same architecture as the Concept Coupe shown in Frankfurt. It's designed to do two things: be safe and integrate into the active lifestyle of a Scandinavian person. The official debut will take place at the Detroit Auto Show on January 13th, but full details will come out on January 8th.
"The Concept XC Coupé builds on the Volvo’s proud history of Cross Country and XC products, with Volvo Cars having created the niche in 1997," says Volvo.
From a design point of view, the concept is dead-easy to understand. Like one of those Ikea rocker seats, everything is minimalistic, which actually helps bring out the design of the headlights and taillights. We think of it as an XC40 with a two-door body. Without a doubt, there's something of the defunct C30 in the design, especially at the back.
