Volvo is experimenting with their concept of the Lounge Console. Just like last year, when Volvo showcased the Lounge Console Concept based on the XC90, the Swedish brand developed a one-off on the S90’s platform.
Volvo will exhibit the S90 Excellence Lounge Console at this year’s Beijing Auto Show, an event which opened today for the press.

Like last year’s Lounge Console Concept, the new exhibit showcases Volvo’s ideas in the bespoke department.

As some of you know, the Swedish company is pondering opening a dedicated division for customers who desire one-off cars. This time, Volvo’s S90 flagship sedan was the base for the updated Lounge Console Concept.

The S90 Excellence’s interior lost the front passenger seat to accommodate the “Lounge Console.” As the company explains the change, the move boosts interior space and enhances forward visibility for the rear occupants.

However, Volvo did not just remove the front passenger seat and called it a day, but it installed the “Lounge Console” in its place. The latter includes a holder for a dedicated tablet. Meanwhile, the passenger seat behind the driver has a dedicated table tray, and the two rear seats are separated by a console.

The rear center console features a built-in refrigerator, two large cupholders, and a set of crystal glasses. The one-off version of the S90 Excellence is designed for the kind of customer that has a chauffeur, so there’s no reason why the rear passengers might not enjoy a dram of single malt while they are traveling. Any cold beverage will do, as long as you do not spill any on the upholstery, which is made of fine-grain leather.

All the bespoke work on this one-off did not lead to changing the steering wheel, center console, or dash, as these look like production elements. The seats of the vehicle also appear to be stock. Volvo has not announced any production plans for the Lounge Console of the S90.
