Volvo today announced that the 508 horsepower S60 built by Polestar will be making an appearance at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. Since the concept/one-off has already been sold for $300,000, this is likely your one and only chance to see it at an event.
This BMW rivaling machine is powered not by some big V8, but by a tuned 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine which has been tuned using race tech to produce 508 horsepower and 575Nm (424 lb-ft) of torque. The Polestar will sprint into the nighttime ski at the speed of 0 to 100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is also up there with the best of them – 186 mpg (300 km/h).

"This is Polestar's interpretation of the Volvo S60," said Christian Dahl, founder and CEO of Polestar. "It's a car developed with our own preferences in mind -- although we know they are also shared by active drivers."
"We approached this project by looking at the production Volvo S60 as a platform for a potential race car - and the culmination of that data went into the design of the S60 Polestar Concept," added Jan Andersson, chief engineer at Polestar.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
