Volvo has appeared in front of the audience at the Geneva Motor Show with a facelift of the V40 hatchback, an estate version of the S90 flagship, and a luxurious variant of the XC90 SUV.
Volvo’s CEO, Hakan Samuelsson, claims the company’s transformation is almost complete, and has proudly reported that the Swedish brand had increased its operating profit margin from 1.6% in 2014 to four percent last year. This is just half of what its competitors in the premium segment operate, Volvo’s CEO noted.

So the best is yet to come for Volvo, but things are shaping up. The V40 compact hatchback received a facelift this year, right before the presentation at the Geneva Motor Show.

Volvo's V40 remains the only passenger car with a pedestrian airbag, a feature that any driver hopes never to have to use, but those who have it enjoy peace of mind knowing that their vehicle could save a pedestrian’s life one day.

The facelift of the V40 brought a set of new headlights for the Swedish premium compact hatchback. Along with them, other minute changes have been made in this range, but nothing too drastic.

The interior features updated upholstery, new materials and an improved climate control system that filters the air that comes inside to protect the health of the occupants. Except for the D2 diesel engine, the entry-level in the V40 range, nothing has changed from a mechanical standpoint on this model. The engine has had its emissions reduced thanks to some improvements.

But the star of Volvo’s Geneva stand is, undoubtedly, the V90. This is the station wagon based on the S90 flagship sedan. Like all estate models build by the Swedish company, this vehicle has a certain elegance to it. It is a classy way of carrying your family and luggage around, making you wonder why the hell do some people buy SUVs for the same job.

The new V90 comes with all the safety and technological features of the S90, so it stands its ground pretty well against its rivals from Germany and Japan. The new V90 will come to market soon, so prepare your finances and pick a color if you like the new Swedish estate.

Along with the V40 facelift and the new V90, Volvo also showcased the XC90 Excellence at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The SUV received a deluxe version inspired by a concept study presented last year. You can find more details on the XC90 Excellence here.
