As far as publicity is concerned, Volvo Trucks is on a roll. We may not have been that impressed with its latest stunt that saw one of its semis tow a paraglider through a tunnel, but it's still miles better than the advertising this type of vehicles usually gets.
This next thing Volvo has in store for us, though, sounds like it's going to take the epicness to a whole new level. It features the two fastest Volvo cars out there, and what makes it so absurd is the fact that one of them is a truck.

On the left lane, we have the Iron Knight. This is the truck currently holding two speed records for this type of vehicles, and just by looking at the thing you wouldn't be surprised to find out they both are related to speed. That's right, back in August the modified truck became the quickest to accelerate on 500- and 1,000-meter long tracks.

The former was dispatched in just 13.71 seconds with a top speed of 131.29 km/h (81.6 mph) while the latter took 21.29 seconds and clocked a top speed of 169.09 (105 mph) at the end. That may not sound too impressive, but bear in mind the Iron Knight weighs 4.5 tons (over 10,000 lbs), and even though its engine was heavily modified up to 2,400 hp, it still uses the original engine block and most of the i-Shift transmission's parts.

The Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 only brings 400 hp to the table obtained from a four-cylinder engine, but it also boasts lightness at 1.1 tons (2,464 lbs). Still, the Iron Knight wins the power-to-weight ratio having six times more power while only weighing four times as much.

But it's exactly these contradicting numbers that make the race so exciting. You think you know what's going to happen, but at the same time, you can't really be sure. What we do know is that it's going to be a drag race, and it's going to be a hell lot of fun. Tune in next Tuesday for the full video.
