Volvo Posts Record Sales in China

Volvo Car Group has announced record sales in China last month and a growth of no less than 74 percent when compared to June 2012. However, the Swedish automaker is down 2.6 percent overall with 40,939 vehicles sold worldwide in June 2013.
Despite the increase recorded in China, Volvo sales slumped in the United States and Europe by 6 percent and 9.5 percent respectively. Deliveries went down in the rest of the world as well, the company selling 10.7 percent less cars when compared to the same month last year.

For the first half of 2013, global sales amounted to 209,118 vehicles, down 5.5 percent versus January - June last year. Volvo’s best-selling model in June 2013 was the XC60, which was sold in 10,961 units (up 10.4 percent), followed by the S60 (7,210 examples - up 6.6 percent) and the V40 (6,540 models).
