Volvo Hires Volkswagen Designed Thomas Ingenlath

Volvo Cars will have a new Vice President of Design in Thomas Ingenlth, a 48-year old who’s made his name and built his career under Volkswagen Group. The new position will be filled as of July 1st, 2012, when Peter Horbury, who is become Senior Vice President Design, Geely Group.
Ingenlath was a Chief Designer for Skoda from 2000 to 2005. Before that, he worked for VW asa an exterior designer. If you’re curious what his work is like, we’ll tell you that he designed the first generation of Skoda Superb and the Roomster. Since 2006, he has acted as head of the Volkswagen Design Studio in Potsdam. There, his notable projects include the Volkswagen Bluesport Roadster Concept and the Nils Concept, so you could say his hands are very... green now.

He graduated the Royal College of Art in the UK and started working for Audi in 1991.

He is one of the most exciting automotive designers today and will play a central role in Volvo’s development towards becoming a top tier luxury auto brand”, says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO, Volvo Car Corporation.
