The Volvo FMX, a truck that’s not at all afraid to leave the road when it has to, has now reached Australia, with the company claiming that there is a perfect match between the difficult working conditions Down Under and the truck’s ruggedness.
Based on Volvo’s FM platform, the truck can be ordered with either a 11-liter engine, which delivers between 330 and 450 hp or a 13-liter mill that produces 450 or 500 hp. The new FMX comes with a redesigned upper grille and a pretty bold lower front fascia and uses a three-part steel bumper with 3mm thick steel corners.
"Our customers in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia have played a big role in the local engineering and specification of the FMX,” said Gary Bone, General Manager, Volvo Trucks. “With all the improvements in the Volvo FMX, a full range of chassis configurations to choose from and our strong service support package, we are convinced that our existing customers will become even more satisfied. We also have high expectations that new truck and our unique total offer will attract many new customers.”
