Volvo C30 Polestar Performance Concept Official Details

Instead of using the April 1st date to make an April fool’s joke, Volvo used the occasion to release a project that is as serious as a car can be. We are talking about the 400 hp all wheel drive Volvo C30.

Now, the company is presenting the details of the monstrous hatch, dubbed the C30 Polestar Performance Concept. This has been developed by Volvo Cars’ official racing and performance partner, Polestar Performance.

At the heart of the vehicle, we find a 2.5 liter engine that uses two KKK 26 turbochargers and a large intercooler to offer 405 hp and 510 Nm of torque. The unit also uses modified pistons, conrods and a re-engineered inlet camshaft.

The wave of power and torque is sent to the road via a Haldex all wheel drive system and two Qualife mechanical differentials. In order to improve the handling of the hatch, Polestar has fitted it with Ohlins shock absorbers & springs and has installed a more responsive steering rack that has a 2.25 ratio.

The braking system, provided by Brembo, uses 380 mm discs with six piston calipers for the front axle and 330 mm discs with four piston calipers for the rear one. The car rides on 19 inch BBS rims, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 235/35 tires.

The C30 Polestar Performance Concept can easily be distinguished from the “standard” hot version of the C30 as it wears aerodynamic clothing derived form the STCC race car and offers racing seats with Ternsjo leather and four point harness.

The vehicle will be displayed at the Swedish Gothenburg Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held between April 22-25.
