Swedish automaker Volvo is acting all mysterious ahead of the 2013 New York International Auto Show scheduled later this month, announcing "a new and exciting addition" to the North American model line-up.
We don't mean to spoil their surprise, but it's quite obvious that Volvo might in fact bring its estate vehicles back to North America with the 2014 V60 model.

Otherwise, Volvo has confirmed that the V60 Plug-in Hybrid will make its American debut at New York while hoping to clinch the prestigious 2013 World Green Car of the Year award, which will be announced on March 28.

"The ingenious on-demand possibility makes the V60 Plug-in Hybrid superior to all other hybrids on the market. Thanks to the Pure, Hybrid and Power modes, the car is the perfect choice for the uncompromising customer who wants to minimise his or her carbon dioxide emissions but maximise driving pleasure," says Doug Speck, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Car Group.

The V60 Hybrid is powered by a 2.4-liter five-cylinder diesel engine coupled with an ERAD electric motor for a combined maximum output of 285 HP and 472 lb-ft of torque (640 Nm). Fuel economy is rated at 123.8 miles per gallon (1.9 liters / 100 km), while the electric motor can offer a range of up to 31 miles (50 km).
