Volvo Announced Pricing for 2010 XC60

The new Volvo XC60 will be up for sale in the U.S. this March, for a starting price of $37,200. For the United States, only gasoline engines will be available. The standard options for all versions have power driver’s seat, SIRIUS satellite radio (complimentary 6-month subscription), Bluetooth connectivity, HD Radio USB technology with AUX ports and a Panorama moonroof. Volvo’s new City Safety feature will also be offered as standard equipment.

The Volvo XC60 has a 3.0 l turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel-drive system with Instant Traction. As a bonus, Volvo offers Complimentary Factory Scheduled Maintenance, for 36,000 miles or three years. Volvo XC60 comes with  four optional packages: Climate, Technology, Collision Avoidance and Convenience.

The Collision Avoidance package introduces Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB), Distance Alert (DA), Driver Alert Control (DAC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Each of them can add between $1,000 (Climate and Convenience) and $2,700 (Technology) to the price of the car. The Technology Package includes Volvo Navigation System with Real Time Traffic, DVD map data and remote control and Rear Park Assist Camera.

The aforementioned City Safety is described as a driver support system meant to prevent vehicle-on-vehicle collisions under 19 mph (31 km/h). It does so through the use of a closing velocity sensor that helps determine whether a collision is likely. If that is the case, Volvo's computer system will automatically brake the vehicle to avoid a rear end collision.

Volvo set its sales target for the XC60 at over 50,000 units. Along with the United States, the company will try to get the bulk of the sales in Germany, Russia, China and Great Britain.
