The Polo GTI was the laughingstock of the supermini hot hatch market – not enough power, not enough fun and not enough style. But VW joined the Word Rally Championship and all that changed. Suddenly, the Polo R WRC Street came out with bragging rights.
Not being content with that car alone, the Germans are apparently working on another, even bette hot Polo. German website AutoBild reports that a prototype is currently testing in the Arctic region, offering up to 250 PS from its re-tuned 2-liter engine.
What's more, while the Polo R WRC Street is front-wheel drive and has a manual, this car will almost certainly be all-wheel drive and will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under six seconds. It seems that in its old age, the Polo 6R is finding its racing spirit.
