Volkswagen Will Make Production Plants 25% Greener by 2018

Volkswagen might have been bashed by Greenpeace with a parody of their Little Darth Vader commercial, but the Germans are taking the planet seriously after all. Not only are they investing heavily into the development of cars that produce less CO2, but now they’ve announced they want to cut 25% percent of their environmental incompatibilities by 2018.

This will be done by reducing energy consumption, waste volumes, air-borne emissions, water consumption and carbon dioxide emissions across the field.

"Through the growing efficiency and productivity of our plants, the Volkswagen brand is already making a key contribution to the achievements of Group strategic targets for 2018. However, we are going a step further: by 2018, we intend to make production at all our plants 25 percent more environmentally compatible," said Hubert Waltl, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
