Volkswagen is a carmaker with many faces. In Europe or the US, it embraces the premium side of family vehicles, but there are some markets like India or Brazil where they sell much cheaper cars, the Fox, the Gol and so on.
In fact, the only truly cheap VW sold in Europe is the Up!, an A-segment hatchback rival for Renault's Twingo and the Chevrolet Spark.
The smallest VW sold in Europe will be converted into a sedan for the Indian market. There, cars that are shorter than four meters in length and are powered by sub-1.5-liter engines have certain benefits. This rendering created by Theophilus Chin shows just how weird the Up! sedan might look.
From the start, this car was designed with a boxy shape that maximizes interior space. Adding a boot makes it look even more like something designed in the 1990s.
But, if you think this looks ugly, check out the chopped Dacia Longan that Mahindra will sell as the "Verito" later this year.
Editor's note: The Up! sedan cannot be unseen, no matter how much I try to 'wash' it down with supercars.
