The VW Up! is less roomy than a Maybach, slower than a Veyron and uglier than the 458 Italia, so just about the only thing it has going for it is its small size. So obviously, the marketing teams have to focus on this aspect.
A brand new commercial for the pint-size city car has just been released, and it tries its best to explain how small is the new big. As a sort of hint to the future, VW shows all sort of big things that are now gone - dinosaurs, full body swimsuits, sideburns, shoulder pads, the cassette player and even a full dictionary set.
“The future belongs to the small. You notice this immediately, once you experience the new, compact up! Even a look at the past proves this state of mind. Therefore we show in our tv spot, big things that become extinct have over a period of time. Furthermore, we indicate that the up! shapes the future,” VW says.
