The Volkswagen Polo isn't exactly new, dating back to 2009, but it's still one of the best selling cars in VW's European arsenal. However, even the Germans have to admit the competition is very strong, so they've had to make it a little bit better this year.
Volkswagen UK has just announced upgrades to the trim levels they offer on the 2013 Polo. It's mainly about three features: parking sensors, cruise control and the alarm, which cost £135 extra for the Polo BlueMotion and Polo Match and are free for the SEL, R-Line, BlueGT and GTI models.
The other big change to the range is the R-Line Style trim level. Previously, the Polo R-Line exterior package was only available with the 1.2-liter TSI engine. But now you can have the same sort of GTI-ish look for the 1.2-liter 60 PS (59bhp) engine or a 1.2-liter 70 PS (69bhp) unit, which are much cheaper to buy and ensure. These cars are based on the basic S trim, which normally wouldn't even have alloys, but receive a full cosmetic package comprising of front and rear bumpers, a unique radiator grille, and side skirts, body-colored door handles and door mirrors and 16-inch ‘Rivazza’ alloys.
