Volkswagen is continuously revising its product range, no matter if we're talking about new cars, revised versions of the actual models or special edition series. Although not confirmed, it appears that the German brand is getting ready to launch a BlueMotion flavor of the Touareg that would obviously increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
There are no official details for the time being, but autoexpress.co.uk writes that the future Touareg 4x4 BlueMotion will boast a large number of enhancements, all of them aimed at supporting the two aforementioned goals. First of all, the car will feature a body lowered by around 25 mm and will be shoed with low rolling resistance tires. Secondly, it will incorporated regenerative braking technologies and an upgraded alternator, as well as slippery aerodynamics.
The 3.0-liter V6 powerplant seems to be one likely to be offered on the BlueMotion version and will generate around 222 bhp. However, fuel consumption figures will be pretty much improved, with initial estimates pointing to a 34 mpg/6.9 l/100km rating (30.4 mpg on the currently 3.0 TDI version offered on the stock model). CO2 emissions will be different as well, with the BlueMotion to release 219 grams of CO2 per kilometer compared with 244 g/km on the standard version.
As said, there are no confirmed details at this point, but the aforementioned source claims a launch date is expected to be announced very soon, with the upcoming auto shows likely to witness the official introduction of the car. It is said that the BlueMotion add around 420 pounds over the price of the standard Touareg.
