The Volkswagen up! Is perhaps the less interesting vehicle in the Wolfsburg carmaker’s lineup.
Ever since its first presentation in 2011 and market introduction in the same year, with no major upgrade made to it since, lacking any type of marketing campaign at group level, the up! keeps on selling steadily around 100,000 units a year on the Old Continent.
The city car that since 2011 spawned the SEAT Mii (a model that just recently gave up on selling the three-door version) and Skoda Citigo has since become a favorite of sorts for various local car sharing companies in Europe, thanks to its size. Other than that, few customers look for up! when in the market for a new car.
To give the model a more dynamic touch and to remind Europeans that the model is still around, Volkswagen announced today it will make the R-Line exterior package available for it as well.
This styling package brings for 795 euros a few more choices in color for the car, new wheels, and the R-Line logo splattered here and there. For a sportier look, the up! also gets a more aggressive front bumpe, chrome trim for fog lights and darkened windows at the rear.
Other than these changes, there’s nothing new when it comes to the up!. The most recent update to the car was made in 2016 for the three-door version. The facelift introduced at that time brought to the market redesigned body panels, new colors and wheels, new headlights with standard LED daytime running lights, new bumpers, redesigned taillights, new mirror cases, and a more prominent rear diffuser
Since 2016, the model is available with only one engine, a 1.0-liter that can give three different power outputs ranging from 60 to 90 horsepower.
You can check out all the visual changes that come with the R-Line package in the document attached below.
