Volkswagen to End Kombi Production with Limited Last Edition Model

Volkswagen’s iconic Kombi van, which is manufactured in Brazil since 1957, is getting ready to exit the automotive world with one last commemorative special series, the German automaker announced today.
Dubbed “Last Edition” and limited to only 600 units, the last batch of vans will feature a special numbered identification plaque on the dashboard, exclusive two-tone white and blue body paint, whitewall tires, tinted rear windows, and “50 anos - Kombi Last Edition” decals.

Inside, the van will come with blue fabric curtains, two-tone vinyl upholstery seats, “luxury finishing and design elements”, special serigraph for the instrument cluster, MP3 with red LEDs and USB ports.

The Volkswagen Kombi Last Edition is available with a the 1.4-liter engine, that delivers 78 HP on gasoline and 80 HP on ethanol, connected to a four-speed manual transmission. Pricing for the last 600 Kombi vans is set at BRL85,000 each, which means about $35,500 or €26,600 at current exchange rates.
