As part of its attempts to make the line of SUVs it sells even more attractive for prospective customers, Volkswagen announced on Thursday the addition of a new design package to go with the Tiguan SUV.
Called Black Style R-Line, the package is designed to be fitted on the Comfort and Highline trims. Additionally, four new exterior colors, some with funky names, will be added to the Tiguan range: Mother-of-Pearl-Effect Oryx White, Pure White, Indium Grey Metallic, and Pearl-Effect Deep Black.

Back to the new design package, the least changes it brings are to be found at the interior. In fact, only the steering wheel is upgraded with the inclusion of an R-Line leather multifunction sports one.

The exterior, however, will be screaming black all over, with the color being used to accentuate elements on the bumpers, spoilers and even windows. Aside for these dark accents, standard 19-inch black alloy wheels will be used to complete the exterior look of the model.

According to Volkswagen, the new package is already available for order in Europe at 3,365 EUR. It could send customers back by an extra 490 EUR, if one chooses the 20-inch black wheels instead of the stock ones.

This is the second new addition to the Tiguan offering this year, after the Germans announced in October the introduction of the Offroad version of the SUV. This a variant that brings both visual and technical enhancements compared to the stock models.

The current generation of the Tiguan is the first SUV built by the Germans on the modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform. Together with its Allspace variant, the model is one of the best selling cars in the Volkswagen lineup.

In the 11 years since the car was first introduced, the model sold around 4.6 million units. 600,000 of them have been sold during the current generation of the model.
