After the Mercedes V-Class came the all-new Volkswagen T6 Transporter and its somewhat luxurious passenger shuttle derivative. You really could say that the Germans know exactly hot to make large boxes on wheels very special. However, a bit of tuning from HS Motorsport won't hurt the T6 in any way.
Let's start with what's under the bonnet. From launch, T6 buyers can pick between several 2.0-liter TDI Euro 5 engines with outputs of 84 PS, 102 PS, 140 PS and 180 PS or a Euro 6 TDI with 102 PS. HS Motorsport started their tuning project with the 140 PS model, which they boosted to 170 PS.

By means of a plug-and-play ECU upgrade and a sports air filter, torque has also gone up from 340 Nm to 400 Nm.

That might be enough for some, but not everybody. That's why HS Motorsport is currently developing a stainless steel exhaust system that should be ready within a couple of months.

The base vehicle is probably the weirdest "donor" for a tuning project. Not only is it a van, but it's the most basic model with unpainted bumpers, white paint and ugly headlights. To spruce things up a bit, HS have installed matte black Barracuda Challenge Rims with contrasting paint accents.

The wheels arrive in a gigantic 9x21-inch size that fills the front arches almost completely. Dunlop Sport Maxx GT R01 tires with a 285/30 R21 size have also been fitted, which means the front axle won't be overwhelmed by the power and torque. The tuner also wanted the wheels to sit flush with the fender edges, so they installed a 12mm spacer set.

If you think that's weird, wait until you catch the first glimpses of the yellow shocks and blue springs. That's right, this van can keep up with Nurburgring traffic, thanks to a sports coilover system from Bilstein. At the front, the T6 sits 60mm closer to the road, while the rear is 50mm. Sure, the ride is on the firm side of firm, but think of it another way: loading is going to be easier.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
