With sales of the Routan MPV down by 16.9% when compared to last year’s numbers (only 9,923 units sold through November), it is not surprising at all that it Volkswagen isn`t giving it a replacement model. We were already aware of this, as VW’s Head of Brand Design, Klaus Bischoff, had said it before.
Now, the production contract at the Chrysler plant, in Windsor, Canada where it is currently being made, has ended. Keep in mind that the Routan was basically a rebadged version of the of the Chrysler Town and Country, and it is not even powered by VW’s own engines, using the Chrysler 3.6-liter V6 engine to move it around.

It will most likely be replaced by an actual VW, the rumored seven-seater crossover/SUV, which is said to be based on a stretched version of the platform that underpins the Tiguan. Volkswagen will most likely confirm this at some point in the near future, but so far, they have not.
