The Volkswagen Polo range’s most efficient model, the Polo BlueMotion, is now available to order at VW dealerships across the UK, starting from 14,445 pounds on the road (15,045 pounds for the five-door version).
The car is powered by a 1.2 liter TDI three-cylinder common rail diesel engine, that delivers 75 HP and 180 Nm of torque available from 2,000 rpm. Being a BlueMotion model, the hatch uses longer gearing (five speed manual gearbox), regenerative braking and an automatic Stop/Start system as fuel-saving technological features.
These are backed by aerodynamic enhancements engineered to reduce fuel consumption, such as redesigned bumpers & side skirts, a new roof spoiler and 15-inch “Greenland” alloy rims wrapped in low rolling resistance tires. All these place the new version of the Polo among the top efficient vehicles available on the UK market.
To be more specific, the car returns a fuel consumption figure of 80.7 (imperial) MPG on the combined cycle, while emitting 91 grams of CO2 for every kilometer. The fuel consumption figure theoretically offers the new Polo a range of over 800 miles for every tank of diesel.
As for the performance figures, the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion takes 13.9 seconds to make the 100 km/h landmark and reaches a top speed of 107 mph (171 km/h). The car comes in standard with manual air conditioning, cruise control and leather steering wheel. The standard safety features installed on the small hatch include four airbags, ABS and ESP.
The first units of the Polo BlueMotion will reach their owners in May.
