Because you can't show people driving fast anymore, most modern car commercials are about the cool features. Most focus on things like curb appeal, ease of parking or interior quality. But both the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Land Rover Discovery Sport have come out with sat-nav commercials.
In our eyes, both are equally brilliant, so we want to know which you guys think stands out. To be honest, we're a bit cheeky here, since the Discovery ad dates back to the end of summer. But we never got around to sharing it, even though it's quite funny.

Not every SUV buyer will order navigation these days because smartphone apps do a better job. But since both the Discovery and the Tiguan have a sense of adventure, they played with that idea and the nav voice.

In Volkswagen's case, it's self-deprecating humor. The Tiguan launch featured a film where a similarly bearded man re-discovered himself by driving off the beaten path. But this time, when the hipster tells us "there's no turning back," the nav lady contradicts and says he needs to make a U-turn.

This isn't LOL kind of humor, but it will put a smile on the face of every guy interrupted by navigation. Meanwhile, the Discovery Sport puts an emphasis on outdoor activities.

The English gentleman recording the voice of the nav system is forced to sit for hours to tell you to make a right turn everywhere from a volcano to a mountain pass. The humor is a little dry, but it more than makes up for this with landscapes that your average SUV buyer will never see.

In both cases, the manufacturers tried to put their best feet forward by displaying the best possibly styling pack and features. But while the Tiguan and Discovery Sport compete for roughly the same customers, there are some key differences between them.

For example, the LR model is the more family-oriented, thanks to its 5+2 seating configuration. Meanwhile, the Tiguan is available with lowered suspension and the R-Line body kit, plus enthusiast-focused engines like the 2.0 BiTDI with 240 PS.
