The seventh-generation US-spec Volkswagen Golf makes its official debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.
The introduction of the new Golf VII to the United States also marks the debut of Volkswagen's MQB platform over the Pond, one that makes the new hatchback 51 pounds (23 kilograms) lighter that the previous generation model.

As we already know, the Golf VII, which is reportedly 15 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor, will go on sale in the US as a 2015 model and it will be built at Volkswagen's Puebla, Mexico factory.

The new Wolfsburg-developed hatchback will greet North American customers with three engine choices: 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel (TDI Clean Diesel) and the 2.0-liter turbocharged for the sporty GTI.

The German automaker hasn't revealed when the Golfs will actually hit the US showrooms in 2014 or how much will they cost. For more details, see the attached press release.
