Ladies and gentlemen, it is pretty likely that you are looking at the rear and interior of the Volkswagen Golf VII, a car that is set to make its official debut tomorrow. The adjacent images of the car surfaced the web via Auto Zeitung and while it would make sense for them to leak one day ahead of the Golf 7’s official launch, we don’t know their actual source.
As it was expected, the Gold will follow its traditional recipe, with the visual changes, at least at the rear of the car, being just as limited as they were when the 6th generation was launched (the 5th generation, for example, was a big change compared to its predecessor.
As for the interior, this seems to bring an interesting change, but not necessarily in design elements themselves. Instead, we’re talking about a philosophy here, as the center console seems to be angled towards the driver a tad.
However, unlike the 6th generation of the Golf, which can be called a comprehensive facelift for the 5th one, the Golf VII rides on the VW Group’s new MQB modular platform which already made on vehicle like the Audi A3.
The new underpinnings mean that the Golf will be lighter (it will lose 100 kg / 220 lbs), despite the fact that it will grow in size. The engine range will include downsized units for increased efficiency, so expect turbocharging to be the Golf’s best friend.
Hot hatch fans will also be pleased soon, as VW will also bring a concept that will preview the GTI version to next month’s Paris Motor Show.
