Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan Commercial: Mom and Dad Get Frisky

A new Golf has just been launched in Germany. No, it's not a 400 horsepower hot hatch like the concept they showed in Beijing last month. It's something that's simpler and more practical, coming from the core of the brand: the new Golf Sportsvan.

This replacement for the Golf Plus MPV will hit dealerships across Germany on May 30th and is being brought out with a marketing campaign called "Great. Every Day." This spot tells the story of a young couple who are going home after an evening out. The radio is playing romantic music as they exchange glances. After pulling up in the driveway, the mood is right and they move in to seal the deal with a kiss, when suddenly… kids. A clear message is being sent out here: that Sportvan is right for every occasion. The company also knows full well that this is a frustration its customers deal with on a regular basis.

"The new Golf Sportsvan combines style, efficiency and convenience in order to meet the everyday challenges flexibly. And that's what we have staged in the TV commercial of the campaign in a fun way," said Anders Sundt Jensen , Head of Marketing Communications Volkswagen Passenger Cars.

Volkswagen is predictably promoting the Golf minivan as the last car you'll ever need to buy before your kids are old and move out of the house. In addition to the TV ads, Volkswagen is also going to have print ones in German magazines and a dedicated website where potential customers can learn about the latest technologies fitted to the Sportvan.

Trading in from an older model VW, some customers are going to be unfamiliar with things like the active safety features like Front Assist and road sign recognition technology. Sportsvans also come with a new three-seat bench that can be folded split and moved up to 180 mm in the longitudinal direction.
