Volkswagen Golf R US Pricing Announced

Hot hatches aren’t all that popular in the US, but as times are changing, we might these go-fast compacts grow on Americans. VW for example, is trying to make US drivers love hot hatches by introducing its Golf R to them, with the vehicle set to make its debut early next year.
The Golf R will be offered in both three- and five-door versions, with the pricing starting from $33,900 (this doesn’t include the destination charge). If you choose for the models that come with navigation and sunroof, the base price jumps to $35,490 (two-door) and $36,090 (four-door), again not including the destination charge.

The NA-spec Golf R extracts 256 hp from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit and delivers a maximum torque of 243 lb-ft. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint is completed in under 6 seconds, while the top speed is limited at 130 mph (209 km/h).

The numbers are a bit discouraging compared to the ones offered by the Euro version of the Golf R: 270 hp and 258 lb-ft, with the 0 to 62 mph sprint dealt with in 5.7 seconds, with a limited top speed of 155 mph 250 km/h). ForTUNATELY, the Golf R is extremely tuning-friendly and customers have many ways of unleashing the car's true potential.

We have to mention that the power is sent to the road using VW’s 4Motion AWD system. The American market Golf R comes with an EPA estimated efficiency of 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
