As the die-hard aficionados among you have noticed, retro icons are more popular than ever these days, not least thanks to their design - new cars struggle to achieve the same level of eye candy, with this being related to aerodynamic limitations coming from the pressure to increase fuel efficiency, as well as to the rules that come as part of pedestrian crash protection legislation. And the original Volkswagen Golf GTI, which delivered hot hatch thrills before the genre was cool, is no exception.
Much to nobody's surprise, all the attention also means that independent digital artists wishing to draw attention will modify these machines using various software pieces. Case in point with the virtual build sitting before us. Perhaps with the exception of exoskeleton builds, you could hardly think of a heavier Mk I Golf GTI rework than the one introduced in this rendering.

Now, as those of you following our pixel tales are aware, we've talked about this extreme Mk I Golf GTI before. However, the machine is now back in White, with the color not only linking this to the actual car but also allowing us to take a better look at the real estate that has been added to the car.

The more generous fenders (that's an understatement) follow the angular styling language of the Vee-Dub and we can say the same about the reworked front and rear fascias that go with them.

However, it's not easy to figure out which part of the vehicle is more striking. The front brings a pair of turbos and a headlight cover message to this battle, while the posterior fights back with monstrous air extractors and the kind of exhaust work you'd expect to see on a supercar.

Yasid Oozeear is the digital artist responsible for this work, with the pixel wielder having kindly placed a slammed, turbo-dominated G63 AMG in the background.
