Next year, VW will introduce an electric version of the Golf, with this riding on the carmaker’s new MQB platform. The vehicle, which might also be a path opener for other eco versions of the compact, is expected to use the E-Golf designation, as Car & Driver writes.
The Golf-E should use a powertrain similar to that introduced on the Golf Blue e-motion concept back in 2010, which means that we’ll get an electric motor producing 115 hp and a torque of 270 Nm (199 lb-ft), which uses a lithium-ion battery package.
The concept, which you see pictured above, offers a driving range of up to 150 km (93 miles) and a top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph). The details are limited so far, but we’ll be back with more details as soon as we get our hands on them.
