Volkswagen Golf CC Four-Dour Coupe Still Possible

Some time ago, we showed you what many thought to be an awkward deviation of a Volkswagen Golf - the so-called Volkswagen Golf CC, a four-door sedan that might be released as soon as... 2014. It appears that the German manufacturer is indeed considering such a project and according to AutoExpress, who talked with a source close to the matter, the car will be based on the seventh-generation Golf.

It would be a waste of time to talk about the details of the Golf CC, given the fact that we are still more than four years away since its official debut but it looks like the parent manufacturer wants to offer it as a more affordable version of the popular Passat CC.

Furthermore, the car is likely to rely on the same engine range as the future generation Golf, which by the way is projected to debut in 2012. In case the CC will indeed see daylight, a hybrid powertrain is also a possible scenario but, again, this is only speculation and the only thing we got is a hint that the company is working on this kind of project.

As for the next-generation Volkswagen Golf, the new range will follow the evolutionary VW design cues, with both the front fascia and the rear side to be reworked. The lineup is believed to include many of the current versions, including a GTI and maybe a GTD. A hybrid version is also probable, taking into account that more and more automakers are migrating towards this side of the market.
