We've heard a rumor about the next generation of VW Gol switching to the body of European Polo. It's a smart move on the part of the Brazilians, one which will give them access to a lot of tech.
We have no idea how that relates to this brand new concept, but the similarities between the Gol GT and the Polo GTI currently in production is uncanny.

So the Gol hatchback and the Saveiro pickup both got a facelift recently, which explains the shape of the headlights. From the back, you can still tell it's the old model by looking at the taillights and the way the glass fits into the trunk lid. But they've tried to hide that in various ways, by adding a black stripe across the width of the back and having 3D-effect taillights, similar to what you see on the Tiguan II.

The Gol GT has about years of history behind it. It's only of those ideas that get Brazil's hot hatch fans all hot and bothered, like the Sandero RS.

As far as the GT Concept is concerned, it's very cool, but they can never make it this good for production, unfortunately. The entire body kit and the interior is defined using red pinstriping, a bit like what you see on the GT-R Nismo.

The headlights have that double-U shape, like the Passat's. They are cool, but you can't even buy that on a Polo in Europe. A thin red stripe connects both of them, and there's black honeycomb for the grille, a la GTI. Meanwhile, the back shows that oversized fascia design like we saw on the Golf R400 concept in China.

We don't think you can put Scirocco R bucket seats or chrome trim in a car sold in Brazil, but what do we know! Those parts definitely clash with the 5-speed manual stick, the manual air conditioning and the cheap infotainment system.

Twin exhaust pipes suggest something magical is happening under the hood, but that's far from the case. It seems this production-intent concept will pack the 1.0 TSI with a flex fuel system. While it's been tuned to deliver 125 PS and 200 Nm of torque, hot hatch fans deserve so much more than that.
