Volkswagen Extends Caddy Range

Volkswagen’s British division announced that it has opened the order books for two new models of the Caddy range, the passenger-carrying Caddy Life and the Caddy Maxi kombi.

Both new models are powered by a 1.6 liter TDI unit that delivers 102 hp. The unit is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, but customers can also choose an optional seven-speed double-clutch DSG transmission. The powerplant returns a fuel economy of 49.6 UK mpg and emits 149 grams of CO2 per km, regardless of the transmission choice.

The Caddy Life comes with the same list of standard equipment as the Caddy Maxi, offering ‘Climatic’ air conditioning, RCD 310 radio / CD player, body-coloured bumpers, door handles and exterior mirrors and black roof rails. In addition to that, the vehicle offers new 15-inch Kemora alloy rims.

The Caddy Maxi kombi adds additional versatility to the already capable Caddy Maxi range with a removable three-seat bench.  The rear load area, fitted with durable rubber flooring, has a capacity of 1.6 m3 with the additional bench seat in place, increasing to 3.9 m3 with the rear seats folded, up to a maximum load capacity of 4.1 m3 with these removed,” explains the press release.

The novelties in the Caddy range come with multiple standard safety features, using he latest generation Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) incorporating Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Traction Control System (TCS) and Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) that prevents wheels from slipping when there is excessive engine braking on low-grip surfaces.

The Caddy Life comes with a starting price of GBP19,415, while the Caddy Maxi starts at GBP14,450 (plus VAT).
