Volkswagen e-Golf Set for North American Debut in LA

German automaker Volkswagen has announced that the e-Golf, the company’s first fully electric vehicle to be sold in the United States, will make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.

Powered by a 115 horsepower electric motor backed by a 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. the e-Golf is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 10.4 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 87 mph (140 km/h). It features three driver selectable regenerative braking modes, a 7.2 kW onboard charger, standard Fast Charging capability that allows for a 30-minute 80 percent battery charge and all-LED headlamps.

The electric version of the popular Volkswagen Golf was publicly introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will go on sale in the United States (in select markets) in the fourth quarter of 2014. More info on the e-Golf is available in the official press release below.
